I raised a SR yesterday and here is the email i go today
"The status of this service request is:
Based on your request we researched the status of this case. We are actively processing this case. However, we have to perform additional review on this case and this has caused a longer processing time. If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from us within 6 months of this letter, please contact customer service at the number provided "
Has anybody received something similar? Seems canned and asking to wait for another 6 months holy cow?What is the next step Info Pass?

Stupid thought: can USCIS sell spillover visas at premium (say $5k or $10k) rather than distributing them in a socialistic way :D .. even @ $5k, USCIS will gain $200 million in 2010 itself :) And this selling be based purely on Priority Date, neither on the category of EB nor on country. Purely Priority-Date based - just straight out to tackle retrogression overall.

I have failed to see where IV has been showing discrimination or bias towards Eb2 versus Eb3?
Not taking up a specific Eb-3 cause does not tantamount of neglecting Eb-3. Has IV done something in past 'proactively' for only a certain category of Eb? If not, then how can we accuse IV of ditching Eb3, at the same time?
No one is saying that IV is ditching Eb3.Everyone(at least EB3 guys) is saying that EB3 needs special attention because it's movement is dead now.

when i was in michigan, i drove to indian consulate in chicago, they gave me PIO card for my daughter in half hour time. can you believe it? ofcourse paid extra fees for this. they talk polite too.

I have read that the Chicago cases were going to be moved to from May. BUt what about the cases that have been in Audit since Jan/Feb 2008. Were they also moved or something.

All of the Chicago cases have been transferred to Atlanta. If the Chicago guys want to talk to me, I�m happy to do so. They don�t have to hire me if all they want is information. As for putting names and case numbers, without that information, they won�t take the letter seriously. Also, I think that this will get the DOL to move on those cases. Almost every time I have made a specific complaint, they have responded by resolving the case right away in order to make the whole thing go away. It wouldn�t surprise me to see the same thing here.[/QUOTE]

Guys, Please do not ridicule saralayar. he has raised a very valid point. We are so involved with the GC issue that we are not able to think beyond that. I do agree with the fact that IV is so preoccupoed with GC crisis that there is no point (or bandwidth) to raise citizenship issue. I have seen so many of my friends who came with me in US 8 years ago and are citizens by now but I am still struggling with GC with no hope in site. Sometime, I think, by the time, I will get GC (if I), they will become sr citizen :) it feels very bad but cant help it.

Looks like approvals has slowed down further.
This is why at the end of the year there are unused visas. All due to inefficiencies of USCIS.
We are doomed.
You guys noticed that the approval rate has really slumped on for EB3 ROW?

I don't have clear picture on what IV is planning to do now except that FOIA drive. I request the core team to inform all IV members explicitly about their plan. I guess there will be more donations than they expect.

One suggestion I have, which is followed by lot of websites with PHP Bulletin boards with high traffic is to use a separate server for boards pointing to something like forums.immigrationvoice.org and keep the main site www.immigrationvoice.org on a separate not so powerful server.
Atleast it ensures that the main site doesn't go down, when forum usage is very high.

"Also the EB queue needs to be considered while moving to the skill based one" - I don't know what you meant by this line but I am in no mood to restart my GC application (for which I have been waiting for the past 9 years) just because some genius (whoever that person was) woke up one morning and decided that all the applications need to be reformed into a points based system.
Of course we are all in the EB queues. I don't want to discuss details of any campaigns in the public forum. You could volunteer for this too and suggest your ideas to 'StarSun' and clear your doubts.

If you read closely, it appears like the 290,000 immigrant visas would be true for years from now on and for years 2001-2005 (the diffrence between current limit and this section). If that's the case and if that becomes a law, there is possibility there will be no backlog after that for some time...short time probably. Please correct me if I am wrongly reading this section. But for me, it appears it applies retroactively and will add the diffrence (150k a year) between years 2001-2005. If my calculation and understanding is correct, once this act becomes a law, the first year there would be 290k + 600k from years 2001-2005 ......I am not sure if my understanding is correct. I prey it is..

I agree with the above and actually in someways this bulletin was perfect ..instead of giving false hopes it has woken up those who were dreaming (including me) that something good will happen in july bulletin. so once again my message --IV needs to announce a new campaign

I sent it on Thursday Sep 11th before hurrican IKE to CGI Houston. Money order was cashed on Sep 23rd. Sent $60 including the express mail for returning the new passport. I haven't received yet. Calling them doesn't help a lot. Does anybody think going in person will help? Do I need to get an appointment to enquire about the passport application? Thanks in advance for your help.

I googled to find any cases similar to the one I have now, by no luck.
My wife was out of status for more than 6 months while she was on H1-b by not working. To put her back on status, my attorney advised to make her go out of the country and come back on H4 visa. Her status now is H4 and has maintained it since the last entry to US. I have maintained my H1-B status since 3 years and got paid for every day.
Is it possible, my I-485 is approved (primary applicant) and her I-485 denied (dependent) due to her prior out-of-status on H1-B? Her current status as mentioned in the I-485 forms is H4.
Please advice.
