Hey Girijas,
Thanks for your confidence in me, but it is all relative, I think I am a slow, average runner, slower than most of my running friends.
When I started running 10 years ago, my goal on the indoor track was to go around the track 2 times without having to stop and walk. Those 2 rounds made up a small distance of less than a quarter of a mile! So you see, small goals can one day lead you to a 26.2 mile goal as well :)

* Contact Senators, congressmen, USCIS and walk them through our presentation
Sorry, i'm just trying to understand the situation here, please no flames.
If this is an admin area fix and USCIS is the main one whom we may need to convince, do we still need to contact/involve politicians in this.
Coming elections, and two different parties, this may give a different color to the whole problem, than solving the problem.

Hello All,
I found a unique way to cope with the stress of our immigration nightmare.
I always feared that this long wait to get the status issue settled would kill the entrepreneurial spirit that I have. The burning desire to do my own thing.
I have been trading stocks for the past 4 years or so now but just recently got interested in PDT - Pattern Day Trading (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pattern_day_trader) (Clickable)
I have found it very interesting as well as rewarding in terms of fulfilling the urge to do something more than what I am doing right now.
It is not easy and it is not for the weak hearted but the rewards are wholesome and tremendous.
I would like people who are interested to "PM" me or post replies here so we can exchange ideas
IMP NOTE: Trading stocks is a type of investment so It is perfectly legal to do so. You do not even require an EAD to do so .
No doubt that if you do have EAD you can trade as business entity as well.
Last but not the least
Do not forget to to keep the momentum up at IV and do donate to IV as often as you can .
Now lets Play !!!!!

Signed up for 20$/month contribution. Trying to get more "contributing" members to register to this site. My wholehearted thanks to the core group!
We started the recurring contributions system Monday night and we sent out emails to 8400 individuals in addition to posting on this site.
Out of 8400, we have nearly a whopping 35 people signed up for recurring contributions. This is below the lowest of low expectations.....................

1. Eliminate EAD & AP, let I485 receipt notice be sufficient for travel and employment authorization.
2. Restart H1B visa renewal by mail. Let there be added scrutiny while the application is processed. It atleast wont let people out of country for unknown time.

if i know this correctly, there are only 3000+ visa's (green cards)available for eb3 india and there are atleast 8000 people waiting in 2002. a person with a pd of mid 2002 also may need to wait atleast 2- 2 1/2 years before he/she gets their green card.
For you and me isnt it < 1year?

going by using unused visa from worldwide allocation within the category ie eb3 for 2011 year, 42.6k visas will help clearing off 9356 peinding cases till Jan 2003?
Am I missing anything?
Why eb2 were processed with 7K cases worldwide and only 700 for eb3 worldwide?
If 42600 / 4 = 10650 cases can be processed per quarter in eb3 , why only 700 were processed?

Here is Ron's reply for the questions/concern
Hi Ron,
Tons of thanks for your time and this letter. Though most of the case are pending with Atlanta, there are few people struck with chicago as well. But the number is very small compared to atlanta. This template sounds very good to me, I will post the same at IV and let you know the feed back. Also I will direct the folks struck in chicago to you, they can hire you if they want you to represent them or I will ask them how do they want to proceed.
If we give the case number and employer name, would there be any impact/side effect ?
I will keep you posted and thanks a lot for your time

Reply from Ron:
All of the Chicago cases have been transferred to Atlanta. If the Chicago guys want to talk to me, Im happy to do so. They dont have to hire me if all they want is information. As for putting names and case numbers, without that information, they wont take the letter seriously. Also, I think that this will get the DOL to move on those cases. Almost every time I have made a specific complaint, they have responded by resolving the case right away in order to make the whole thing go away. It wouldnt surprise me to see the same thing here.

05/05/2008: USCIS Revises "Significantly" Child Status Protection Act (CSPA) Interpretation & Guidance 04/30/2008
The Acting Associate Director, Domestic Opertions, USCIS, Mr. Donald Neufeld, issued a memorandum on April 30, 2008 to significantly revise Adjudicators Field Manuals(AFM) in the subject of CSPA and replacing previous and current guidances, "The Child Status Protection Act," issued September 20, 2002; and "The Child Status Protection Act Memorandum Number 2", issued February 14, 2003. This guidance significantly modifies a prior interpretation of certain provisions of the CSPA. In particular, it changes how the agency interprets the statute to apply to aliens who aged out prior to the enactment date of the CSPA. It also permits those individuals who were ineligible under the prior policy to file a new application for permanent residence. Under certain circumstances, this guidance also permits those individuals who were previously denied for CSPA to file motions to reopen or reconsider without filing fee. It also explains what steps certain aliens who do not automatically benefit from the CSPA can take to protect their status as a child.

A person, leaving behind a car/home and going back to home country is not doing anything criminal. He is playing by the rule. Of course, these acts would shine on his/her credit report for a while.
.
I am surprised some of us are actually encouraging immigrants to contribute to the current housing crisis.
I don't really care how it works in America or the rest of the world but common sense tells me loan defaulting is criminal.
When I lend $1000 to a friend for a year with 10% interest, I expect $1100 back at the year end. If he cannot pay and runs away to another country, that makes him a criminal (and of course it makes me stupid).
Let's say I decide to be little smart and hold his $1200 laptop, as a security.
Now, if I get only $500 by selling it at the end of the year, he still owes me $600 and he should still face criminal charges, because effectively I have been robbed of that amount!
American mania for home ownership has cost all of us heavily. The whole nation runs on borrowed money, with humongous federal and state deficits.

I must admit I had not read Slumdog's post properly (I had read his older post abt Peace of mind and was going by a past impression that this one would be a stupid post...).
I strongly feel without gc one should not buy a house but I like parts of the current posting. I guess the bigger issue is the screwed up immigration system getting tied down to your H1-B/EAD and the prospect of endless waits and that is driving people bonkers - what the hell, I'm not going to compromise on my standard of living. Whatever it is, I fully understand all the issues faced by all EB-I folks.

My best guess is the USCIS people do not want to work. If the move the PD's, then they have to scan millions of files to find which ones are having the PD current. So, it is in their interest to not move the PDs.
I think they will again open gates for a month like last year and then approve whatever file comes in their hand and that way not have to work or find the files with the PD current. So, the lucky ones will get approved and unlucky ones will keep sitting until next year (no matter what their PD is ). So, sad what kind of organization is it, no accountability and no performance checks on them.

I got my Card Production ordered email yesterday at 9:00 PM and now at 7:20 AM I get mail saying I have been registered at permenent resident. So looks like the department that registers GC is slower than the guys who print the actual card. Has any one else seen this kind of reverse order of mails?

Very true - anyone who goes ahead in the queue is actually easing it up for the latter. This is Never about belittling a fellow sufferer.
If PhDs get a quota relief, will be good for all of us, although i personally will not qualify.
US Bachelors/Masters holders in a STEM field for example, will similarly ease up the system.
Hopefully all others will see it that way.

<Quote>The "quality of life" in a 4 bedroom house with back yard is greater than that in a small 650 sq ft single bedroom apt </Quote>
How long can you stay in the 4bed room if you cannot pay mortgage? or do you want to invest in a property which is sinking? My questions are not applicable if you have stable income & you are not expecting to relocate for couple of years.
