Dear friends
For every one of us getting GC is a nightmare. Though USCIS follows a system, I feel it is not correctly followed. Also I noticed that people who have filed before the PERM process are really suffering. There are people who are in EB3, waiting for more than 9-10 years, keeping hope and anxiously waiting.
I feel that we should write to USCIS to clear all the pending GC�s (EB2, EB3) filed before PERM (March 31, 2005) need to be processed before they take up any cases filed in PERM.
This will certainly make the process rational.

Lunch is supposed to be taken at cafeteria not at cubicles.It doesnt matter whether it's curry or burger.Both smell bad.
The project where I worked in the past does not have a cafeteria at all. All my friends/colleagues used to eat at their cubicles only. Is there some kind of unofficial rule that you have to eat at a cafeteria. I feel most small companies do not have a cafeteria. I've seen in different projects that I worked, most employees whether desi or somebody else ate at their cubicles only.

reality is, a contraction of US growth of this magnitude was never anticipated...there is strong fear of deflation!
its a do or die situation for immigrants. regardless of the visa status EAD , H1, L1, B1...or Z1.. the only hope of us to get a temp fix which helps the housing/eb crisis..

Yes but in Canada you will breathe clean air and drink clean water. You will have electricity 24 hrs a day and water 24 hrs a day. You wont find trash on the street and you wont be considered second class citizen if you arent SC/ST/OBC due to reservations. You woint have to give "donations" to get your kid admitted to Class 1. You wont face a system where a simple court case drags to 50 yrs or a case where doctor will not treat if before police does a "Panchnama" if you had an accident. You wont have to bribe everyone from minucipality to police to start a business.
I have driven in and around Toronto for a couple of hours and did not find it much better than driving in Trivandrum/Cochin.
Other points, I can only talk relating to the US and here we go.

Almost same story for water. About a year back, the DC govt. even admitted that the water supplied by them contains too much bad stuff.
"You wont find trash on the street" - only when you live in a decent community. Just walk around half an hour around NorthEast DC and hope you will change your mind. Do not attempt to walk around the downtown of any US city after 6 PM. We don't want to loose any of the IV members.
"you wont be considered second class citizen if you arent SC/ST/OBC due to reservations." - Who is considered second class citizens is a subject unto itself. But if you are complaining about reservations, you have never heard of affirmative action.

Now, all hospitals (private hospitals included) are required to treat traffic accident victims asap.
I am not trying to say, India is paradise. We have lots of crap going around. Many things still stink, but so is the situation in many "great" countries.

I want to take this opportunity to introduce you to this new effort taken up by a group of people badly hit by the immigration delays or we can say immigration black out in U.S..

1) Find solution to employment based greed card retrogression
2) Labor delay in the backlog centers.
All the members of this non-profit organization are facing severe problems due to these issues. We have started the awareness drive and professional strategic help (lobbying) efforts have started for the new Comprehensive immigration reform bill due on the floor of the Senate and House in Spring of-06. To make a difference and to have the new law passed in the way the current visa retrogression & Backlog center delays cane be addresssed with the new bill, I would request you to please spread this message or forward the email to as many people as possible.

Thank you for all quick replies.
It's been about an year the case has been closed. I can't expunge it for 4 more years. The attorney said it may not be under CMT. I think even though we expunge it, in future where ever we go, if asked that ever got arrested, we need to say YES right?
My attorney says it should be OK.. I am not sure what to be done as you said it all depends on the VO

In Ohio expungement can be done after 12 months and I neither know which state you are in nor I know the rules of any other state. The best bet is talk to a good criminal attorney. You are stuck with this case for quite some time and u need to talk to a good attorney.

Which state are we talking about here?
New DL renewal Procedure is a painful process which started August 1, 2006.
The process involves;
1. Visiting a DMV office and they will ask for your documents and give you a case number which you will present to MVI.
2. MVI will investigate your immigration status with USCIS and you will receive a letter after 5-7 days. If there is a problem, it will take upto 9 weeks. This means, you cannot drive until they have verified your legal status in the US.
This is a new procedure and I know a couple of friends who currently cannot drive because they cannot renew their license.
At first, DMV branches were unaware of this new procedure.
Has anyone been through this new process and successfully pass through MVI and renewed their license or is anyone waiting for the letter from MVI for more than 7 days.

My EAD-renewal is also delayed and had an Infopass appointment in local USCIS office today. During the meeting, I specifically asked, in the event if EAD renewal is not approved before the expiration of current one, can I still continue to work? The answer was - "You can continue to work as long as your employer agrees to it". hmmm. Then I asked, would it jeopardise my status or 485 process in any shape or form. The answer was - "No (it will not effect my status)". Although, he did mentioned that interim EAD is not allowed anymore. He even said that, they actually took the machine and equipments required to produce EAD card for local office.

Fill out the G-639 form and take it to a notary. Have him notarize the document when you sign it in his presence. Worked for me.

Once you receive your DS230 form from the NVC you can find the NVC case number on the bar codded sheet. After you submit your DS230 to NVC using that NVC case number you can dial a number and check the status. Mine after 4 weeks says that NVC has completed the processing and forwarded to the Madras consulate on June 5th. Thats how I came to know.
By the way mine is EB2

I am really proud of the group that thought about this idea, frankly at first I was not convinced that it would be such a good idea. But hey, anything that gets attention is a good idea. So kuddos to english_august, nixtor and the rest of the gang that made this happen.
another note: people who disagree with this idea, and feel that it is childish, please: what is your grand idea, and what are you planning to do? have you sent emails to reporters? talked to anyone about what is wrong with the USCIS?.

Ron Gotcher said something similar... they may be trying not take any more
applications from 2000-2009 until they finish the backlog. That may be one of the
reasons why they may have retrogressed to 2000. Just my 2 cents.

Do they ask me regarding this at the POE? In what forms do I have to fill the info? I am not sure, as one of you suggested, if they ask we will tell them. But does this record appear in their computer screen and if we did not mention to them, will it be treated as another crime?
God please help me , It's THE WORST thing ever I did and been trhu a painful experience
